How to Declare a Middle East Studies Major or Minor

Samantha Keyser (skeyser1@utk.edu) is the dedicated professional Advisor for the Interdisciplinary Middle East studies (MEST) program. To prepare for your appointment, please review your DARS report and the appropriate catalog year for your major. Please have a list of courses you are interested in, as well as questions for your appointment.

Students declared as MEST majors are required to have advising every semester until you have reached 30 credit hours at UTK. After 30 credit hours, you are required to meet every other semester. Students whose ID number end in an even digit will be required to meet in the Fall. Students whose ID number ends in an odd digit will be required to meet in the Spring.

Students with MEST as a minor or secondary major should meet with Samantha Keyser by scheduling in Vol Academic Connect or by calling the Arts & Sciences Appointment Line at 865-974-4483 to discuss course availability, studying abroad, and future goals with Middle East Studies.

If you would like to declare MEST as a major or minor, please fill out this form to declare.
